Casey at the Bat Response

“Casey at the Bat” is a sports themed poem by Ernest Lawrence Thayer. In it Casey’s team is losing and he’s the best one on it. He’s also the last one going, but when it’s his turn he misses on purpose, strikes out, and his team loses. In my opinion, Casey is over confident.

Casey is over confident because he thought he would never miss, and prioritized looking cool over winning the game. Casey said, “That ain’t my style,” when he saw the first ball, and “still ignored” the second ball. This evidence proves Casey was so confident that he thought, if he tried, he would always hit the ball. He didn’t try to hit the first two balls that way he would hit the third ball and look cool, but he missed and lost.

Even if Casey is the best baseball player ever he still wasn’t super careful with chances of winning. Casey thought he would win for sure so, he purposely missed two good pitches just so he would look cool. The main message to take away from this poem is that while taking risks can be a good thing, there still can be too much of a good thing.

Innovation Day Reflection 2025

Innovation Day Reflection

About innovation day

For innovation day we had to do research on a bionic or prosthetic body part. We did this in steps first we had to answer questions like what body systems it effects and take notes. Then we took are notes and made them into paragraphs. After that we made a model of the bionic body part. Then we printed are paragraphs and put them on a presentation bord, and finally on innovation day ( Feb 11th ) we presented them to our parents.

Procedure

My partner and I chose the bionic arm because we already had an idea of what are model would look like. Now I’ll tell you about what we did for each step. Answering questions: we had been given a website that could check if other websites were good, so we found some good websites and use them for research. Making paragraphs: this step was pretty simple, but we did a bit of extra research to make the paragraphs big enough. Making the presentation bord: we printed our paragraphs and cut them out and we hot glued our paragraphs onto a presentation bord with some pictures too. Presenting: on innovation day ( Feb 11th ) we set up our bords out in the class room, our  parents came and we presented to them, but we also practiced a lot before innovation day.
